theboywiththebook | Second Tale: The Red Room [Action/Video] (Spoilers for s2ep6 those not up to date)

[Henry has gotten settled in his room in the first community housing building on floor 2. But, the thing is he hasn't been sleeping well lately. Ever since he woke up from the sleeping curse he'd been put under he'd been having horrible nightmares.

Tonight was no exception.

He was in a red room. There were no windows or doors, so he was locked in. But there were these red curtains, on fire. The whole room was on fire in fact. All he could do was try and avoid the flames and from being burned. But when he looked off into a corner he saw a woman. Her back was faced away from him and all he could do was try and call out to her. Try and get her attention.

But, it was getting too frightening. He lunged awake quickly and let out a terrified yell. He knocked over his journal turning the feed on. Rubbing his face to try and get the pictures of that room from his mind, he turned only to see he'd knocked his journal open. Hopefully he didn't wake anyone. But just in case he'll apologize but sound a bit fearful as he does.]

Sorry, about that...

[After that, he can't get back to sleep. He's gone to the kitchen for his floor and has made some coffee. He wants to stay awake, to try and avoid going back to those horrible dreams.

Opening the journal again he'll try and occupy himself with talking to anyone that's awake.]

Is there anyone up right now...?

[Bucky goes to grab a mug and help himself to what's left of the pot. He's going to need to be properly awake for this.]

There's no curse or enchanted forest where I'm from. I'm sorry to have to break this to you kid, but you're lookin' for someone else. Maybe someone who looks a lot like me, from your world. It happens around here.

The name's James Barnes. You can just call me Bucky.

[That's exactly what someone who's cursed would say. But, the name Bucky rings a bell along with James Barnes. Henry slowly looks at Bucky...slowly coming to the realization that maybe this isn't who he thinks...well duh.]

Have you ever heard of a place called Storybrooke, Maine?

[Bucky shakes his head.]

I'm from Brooklyn, Indiana. [There's a hint of a wry grin.] Is that where you're from? Storybrooke? [He's heard stranger things.] You got anyone from home here with you?

[Henry nods a little to his questioning on his town.]

No, I'm the only one from there that's here.

So you're on your own? [Bucky frowns. Well, that explains why no one's come after him by now. There's definitely a hint of concern in his voice.] What's your name, kiddo?

Yeah, I managed to find this place to live though. But, my name's Henry.

[Yeah, he's not going anywhere for a while. Bucky settles into the chair across from Henry with his coffee.]

Alright. I'm in #8 on this floor. You need anything, you can swing by any time. If I'm not there Steve'll look out for you too. [And there's Howard, but he's - well, Howard.] So what's eating you? Can't sleep?

All right, I'll be sure to.

[Even though he might not. After all, no offense to Bucky, but Henry didn't know him to well yet. But that'd probably change after this small talk.]

I had a bad nightmare...it's nothing really.

[Bucky doesn't expect him to agree right off, but it's worth the offer, just in case. Things can get crazy around here pretty fast.]

Nothing's got you here at this hour drinking coffee? Come on, kid. [He inclines his head.] You wanna talk about it?

[It seems he's been caught. He never is good at lying with this kind of stuff.]

You don't mind if you listen?

Wouldn't offer if I did. Sometimes talking helps, it doesn't seem so bad when you get it out in the open.

[Well, Henry's slightly reluctant but he'll begin telling him about the dream. About the room that as on fire and how he couldn't find a way out and the fact that there was someone looking back at him.]

[Bucky listens without interrupting. It's not a dream he expects from a little kid, and he even seems to remember most of the details.]

Any of it make any sense to you? A memory maybe? You don't have to talk about anything you don't want to.

No, it's nothing I remember. It just started happening after the sleeping curse.

Sleeping curse?

[Eyebrow raise. Isn't there anyone in this town who doesn't mess around with magic?]

Yeah, I fell under a sleeping curse.

And it gives you bad dreams?

Sort of. I didn't think it would continue after the curse was broken though.

Well, between you and me, I don't know a thing about curses... but bad experiences have got a habit of leaving an impression. You know what helps with that?

What helps?

[Honestly, he's really curious.]

Good experiences, good friends. And time. Lots of time.

[There are some things that doesn't quite work for, but he's not getting into that.]

Coffee not so much. It'll stunt your growth. How about a trade? I'll make you some hot chocolate if you dump that in the sink.

[He nods a little bit. If only that time would happen sooner. But hot chocolate? That sounds better.]

All right. Sure.

[And he's just goes over and dumps his cup down the drain.]

Smart kid. [Bucky ruffles his hair as they pass each other. He takes his coffee with him since he's still drinking it and goes about fetching milk and a pan to heat it up on the stove.]

So Storybrooke, what's that like?

[He'll just be going to look for cinnamon somewhere. He loves cinnamon on his chocolate.]

Well, it's kind of big. We live by the ocean. But Storybrooke used to be cursed by the Evil Queen so they would forget who they really were and would live forever without their happy endings. But now that everyone remembers I think things are getting better. People are actually becoming happy again.
